Privacy notice

What we collect

• Plan inputs. Your location (city, state, pincode), monthly electricity bill or units, roof area, roof type and shading. These are what the calculator needs to produce a plan.
• Account details. If you sign in, the email address and basic profile information from your chosen sign-in method, plus any plans you choose to save.
• Messages you send. The name, email, topic and message you submit through the contact form.
• Address lookups. If you use address autocomplete on the calculator, what you type in that field is sent to Google Maps Platform to return suggestions.

How we use it

To generate your solar plan, to save and show plans in your account if you are signed in, to reply to messages you send us, and to keep the service working and secure. We do not use your details to make sales calls, and we do not build advertising profiles.

What we do not do

• We do not sell, rent or trade your personal details.
• We do not pass your contact details to installers or vendors.
• We do not accept payment from vendors to influence what you are shown.

Cookies and local storage

We store your light/dark theme preference in your browser, and a plan you build without signing in is held in your browser session so the report page can display it. If you sign in, the sign-in provider stores a session so you stay logged in. We do not run third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

Who processes data for us

Our hosting and database provider stores the application data described above. Google Maps Platform processes address autocomplete queries. Sign-in is handled by the provider you choose when you log in. These providers process data on our instructions in order to run the service.

How long we keep it

Saved plans and account data are kept while your account exists. Contact messages are kept while we handle your query and for a reasonable period afterwards for reference. Plans built without signing in are not stored on your account and disappear when your browser session ends.

Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of the data linked to your account, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and saved plans. Write to us through the contact page and choose “Privacy or data deletion” as the topic. You can also use the tool without signing in at all.

Children

SolarRoute is intended for adults making decisions about their property and is not directed at children.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date at the top. See also our terms of use.
